United States Seventh Circuit

DAVIS v. COMBES, 00-3910

An oral agreement, promising to maintain insurance for another's benefit, is not sufficient under Illinois law to override a written designation of a beneficiary on an insurance policy; flaws identified in an ERISA "change of beneficiary" form were not enough to defeat its effectiveness.
