DIXON v. SNYDER, 00-2142

Defense counsel's misunderstanding of state law that allowed use of a witness's prior inconsistent statements beyond impeachment resulted in ineffective assistance of counsel where defense counsel did not introduce the statements at trial, even if the witness repeated the statements at trial.
