United States Sixth Circuit
Taylor v. TECO Barge Line, Inc., 07-5255
In a former deckhand's suit against his former employer claiming exposure to coal tar left him with a permanent, severe skin reaction, a judgment pursuant to a jury award of $1 million for plaintiff is affirmed over claims that: 1) the district court made three evidentiary errors; 2) it erred in denying a motion for a judgment as a matter of law; 3) it erred in refusing to offer a jury instruction on the harmlessness of the chemical in question; and 4) the jury verdict was excessive.
