United States Sixth Circuit

US v. Sandles, 02-2466, 02-2492

A conviction for bank robbery is reversed and remanded where the government failed to introduce sufficient evidence at trial that the Michigan National Bank's deposits were insured by the FDIC at the time of the robbery, a required element of a federal bank-robbery charge. Dismissal of defendant's writ of coram nobis concerning his prior bank-robbery conviction is affirmed for lack of jurisdiction, and a denial of his motion to dismiss grounded on alleged violations of the Speedy Trial Act is affirmed.
