US v. Bass, 04-1582
A conviction and sentence for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base and firearms murder during or in relation to a drug trafficking crime are affirmed over claims that: 1) the government violated the Speedy Trial Act by delaying six years before trying him; 2) the government violated his constitutional right to a speedy trial; 3) the district court abused its discretion by not conducting an evidentiary hearing on his ineffective assistance of counsel claim; and 4) his sentence violated the Sixth Amendment and Booker.
