United States Sixth Circuit
US v. Romero, 05-1512
A decision suppressing drug evidence in the drug conspiracy trials of defendants is affirmed as to a determination that officers had probable cause to arrest defendants and reversed as to suppression of drugs where a defendant consented to an initial police entry into the hotel room and the doctrine of "consent once removed" justified backup officers- entry into the room, and a search of a hotel nightstand was a valid search incident to arrest.
