A state prosecutor's decision to have witnesses testify falsely at plaintiff's criminal trial, even if done knowingly, is protected by absolute immunity in a subsequent civil rights action, but the prosecutor's conduct in coercing a witness into continuing to testify falsely more than a year after trial is not so protected.
