GROSSE ILE BRIDGE CO. v. AM. S.S. CO., 00-2459

Although a ship captain's efforts to avoid a collision with a bridge are viewed under the lenient standard of the in extremis doctrine, the district court clearly erred in absolving ship from all responsibility for the collision.
