US v. Rodriguez, 08-50989

Defendant's conviction for possessing an unregistered sawed-off shotgun with an obliterated serial number is affirmed where it was reasonable for officers to conduct a protective sweep beyond the living room area of defendant's trailer home, even though they had not specifically been told that there were other people in the residence, because the police's first priority in responding to a domestic disturbance report was to secure the scene and create a safe environment in which to investigate the report.
