United States Fifth Circuit

Wood v. Quarterman, 06-70027

An application for a certificate of appealability from a denial of habeas corpus relief in a death penalty case is denied as petitioner failed to make a substantial showing of the denial of a constitutional right with regard to claims that: 1) the indictment was defective because it did not state a capital offense; 2) trial and appellate counsel provided ineffective assistance of counsel; and 3) the trial court erred in admitting evidence of an extraneous offense during the guilt phase of trial.
