United States Fifth Circuit
Smith v. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., 06-60373
In a suit alleging defective tire design after an automobile accident caused by a tire blowout, summary judgment for defendant is affirmed where the district court did not abuse its discretion by rejecting the expert testimony of a polymer scientist regarding the cause of a particular tire's failure since the scientist had no expertise in tire design, manufacture, or malfunction.
