United States Fifth Circuit

US v. Freeman, 05-11231, 05-11254

Convictions for possession with intent to distribute cocaine are affirmed over a claim of erroneous denial of a motion to suppress evidence found in a backpack during a search of their shared sleeping car where: 1) defendant's consent to search was voluntary; and 2) a reasonable officer would have believed that defendant had authority to consent and that his consent covered the backpack at issue.
