United States Fourth Circuit

Universal Leather v. KORO AR, 13-2241

In this action brought against defendant foreign corporation, the district court’s judgment of dismissal on grounds that plaintiff failed to satisfy its prima facie burden of showing that defendant “purposefully availed” itself of the privilege of conducting business in the forum state is vacated and the case remanded, where plaintiff did, in fact, meet its initial burden by submitting affidavits stating that defendant contacted plaintiff in the forum state, conducted repeated in-person solicitations and meetings concerning the parties’ business relationship there, and engaged in numerous business transactions over a two year period.
