United States Fourth Circuit

US v. Abdulwahab, 11-5093

Defendant's convictions and sentence for several crimes relating to an investment scheme that resulted in nearly $100 million in losses for investors are: 1) reversed in part, as to the conviction for money laundering while payment of the commissions may have constituted evidence of the fraud underlying the money laundering charges, the payments did not constitute money laundering; and thus, 2) his sentence is vacated and the matter is remanded for resentencing; but 3) affirmed in all other respects.
