United States Fourth Circuit
US v. Dinkins, 09-4668
Defendants convictions for the murders of certain government witnesses and a co-conspirator and numerous other narcotics and firearms related offenses arising from their involvement in a drug-trafficking organization, are affirmed, as the district court did not abuse its discretion by empaneling an anonymous jury in finding that that anonymity was necessary to protect the venire members and jurors, and the challenged hearsay statements was properly admitted under the forfeiture by wrongdoing exception to the hearsay rule and the Confrontation Clause.
