United States Third Circuit
Conard v. Pennsylvania State Police, 16-3346
Reinstated a former 911 dispatcher's claim that her former supervisors gave false, defamatory job references to her prospective employers to retaliate against her for her previous employment complaints, in violation of her constitutional rights. The dispatcher claimed that undeserved negative references had prevented her from obtaining other employment. Reversing the dismissal of her complaint, the Third Circuit held that she adequately pleaded a First Amendment retaliation claim.
