Johnson v. City of Philadelphia, 15-2346

In a civil rights action brought by the administratrix of plaintiff's estate under 42 U.S.C. section 1983 alleging unconstitutionally excessive force on behalf of a police officer, the District Court's grant of summary judgment to defendants is affirmed where plaintiff's violent attack on defendant-officer was a superseding cause that severed any causal link between the officer's initial actions and his subsequent justified use of lethal force.
