US v. Menendez, 15-3459
A criminal indictment filed against U.S. Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey, for allegedly soliciting and accepting numerous gifts from his friend in exchange for using the power of his office to influence an enforcement action against the friend, in violation of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978, is affirmed where: 1) the Senator's purportedly legislative acts are not protected by the Speech or Debate Clause of our Constitution, U.S. Const. art. I, section 6, cl. 1; and 2) the indictment is not otherwise deficient.
