United States Third Circuit
United Industrial Service Tran v. Government of the Virgin Islands, 13-1247
Petition for writ of certiorari asking for review of a decision by the Virgin Islands Supreme Court is dismissed as moot, where: 1) H.R. 6116 eliminated the Third Circuit's certiorari jurisdiction over final decisions of the Virgin Islands Supreme Court and replaced it with direct review by SCOTUS; 2) the Third Circuit still possesses certiorari jurisdiction with respect to proceedings filed in the Virgin Islands courts before the date of enactment of H.R. 6116; and 3) the question of whether title 24 section 374(a) of the Virgin Islands Code is harmonious with title 3 section 113(a) cannot be reached.
