Interstate Outdoor Advertising v. Zoning Board Township of Mount Laurel, 11-3837
Zoning ordinance prohibiting the erection of outdoor advertising displays is constitutional, where: 1) with respect to commercial speech, defendant has a substantial interest in both the aesthetics and safety of its highways, the ordinance is not overly extensive and it advances defendant's substantial interests; and 2) as to non-commercial speech, the ordinance is content-neutral, and directly advances substantial governmental interests, and alternative channels of communication are available.
