United States Third Circuit

US v. Martorano, 11-2864

District court's imposition of a sentence of life imprisonment without parole upon a defendant following a guilty plea to nineteen counts related to the wholesale distribution of drugs is affirmed where: 1) it has never been held that in the pre-Guidelines context, general sentences are per se illegal; and 2) the decision in US v. Ward, 986 F.2d 669, 673 (3d Cir. 1993), did not change the result in defendant's case.
