United States Third Circuit
US v. Whiteford, 10-1023
In a prosecution of two Army reserve officers for conspiracy to participate in a bid-rigging scheme in Iraq, convictions and sentences are affirmed, where: 1) the evidence was sufficient for the conspiracy convictions; 2) the district court did not err in declining to grant the defendants new trials in the interest of justice; 3) the district court properly denied a motion to suppress statements one defendant made to the police after his arrest, and the weapons recovered from his house; 4) the district court's refusal to grant use immunity to a defense witness was not in error; and 5) the sentences were substantively reasonable.
