N.Y. State Rifle and Pistol Ass'n v. Cuomo, 14-36

In a consolidated action challenging the constitutionality of New York's Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act, 2013 N.Y. Laws 1, and Connecticut's Act Concerning Gun Violence Prevention and Children's Safety, Conn. Pub. Acts 13-220, the court held that: 1) the state statutory provisions banning the possession of semiautomatic weapons and large-capacity magazines fall within the scope of the Second Amendment but survive intermediate scrutiny; and 2) New York's seven-round load limit and Connecticut's ban on the Remington 7615 do not survive intermediate scrutiny and accordingly violate the Second Amendment.
