US v. Yannai, 13-4466

Conviction for violations of the Mann Act, 18 U.S.C. section 2422, labor offenses, 18 U.S.C. sections 1351, 1589, and offenses with regard to the importation and employment of aliens, 8 U.S.C. sections 1324, 1328, following a jury verdict entered in defendant's absence, is affirmed over claims that defendant's right to be present at trial was violated by the district court's refusal to delay the final stage of trial when he was unconscious and hospitalized, where defendant waived his right to be present by deliberately overdosing on prescription drugs.
