United States Second Circuit
Yugoimport v. Republic of Croatia, 11-1990
In an interpleader action initiated by the Bank of New York to determine ownership of funds held in an account frozen pursuant to executive order during the Bosnian War, summary judgment to defendants Republics of Croatia and Slovenia are affirmed, where the district court did not err in concluding that the depositor was an agency of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and that the funds were subject to division among the Yugoslav successor states pursuant to a multilateral treaty.
