United States Second Circuit
US v. Grimm, 12-4310
Defendants' convictions for violating the general federal conspiracy statute, arising out of their multi-year scheme to fix below-market rates on interest paid by their employer, General Electric (GE), to municipalities, are reversed, where the indictment is barred by the applicable statutes of limitations because GE's payments of the depressed interest to the municipalities do not constitute overt acts in furtherance of the conspiracy.
