United States Second Circuit

Troma Entertainment, Inc. v. Robbins, 12-1883

Dismissal of plaintiff's copyright infringement suit alleging defendants' unauthorized licensing of plaintiff's movies to a German company, is affirmed, where: 1) the district court correctly concluded that plaintiff's allegations concerning personal jurisdiction fail to establish a non-speculative and direct New York-based injury that goes beyond economic losses suffered by its New York‐based business, as required by New York's long-arm statute; and 2) the district court was therefore correct in declining to exercise personal jurisdiction over defendants.
