Motorola Credit Corp. v. Uzan, 06-1222

In case involving misrepresentations by Turkish family seeking financing for a Turkish telecommunications business to swindle plaintiffs of billions, judgment awarding punitive damages of $1 billion jointly and severally against defendants is affirmed over claims that: 1) the punitive damages assessed violate Illinois law and the U.S. Constitution; and 2) the district court erred in assessing the punitive damages jointly and severally.
