United States First Circuit

In Re: Conde-Vidal, 16-1313

In a suit brought by advocacy groups to challenge the constitutionality of Article 68 of the Civil Code of Puerto Rico, P.R. Laws Ann. tit. 31, section 221, and other laws of the Commonwealth that prohibit same-sex couples from marrying, the motion to join in the petition for writ of mandamus is granted and the petition itself is also granted, where the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, 135 S.Ct. 2584 (2015) rendered the Commonwealth's ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional.
