United States First Circuit
Moreno v. Holder, 13-1570
The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) properly denied petitioner asylum and ordered her removed to her homeland, where: 1) the BIA did not err in applying the REAL ID Act's corroboration requirements to petitioner's asylum application; 2) the BIA did not err in holding that petitioner failed to carry her burden of proving either past persecution or a well-founded fear of future persecution; and 3) petitioner's challenge to the BIA's finding that the particular social group to which she tied her claim of persecution, widows of slain narco-traffickers, was not cognizable, is moot.
