United States First Circuit

Hooper-Haas v. Ziegler Holdings, LLC., 11-1747

In a dispute over a real estate transaction, district court's entry of default and subsequent judgment in favor of the plaintiffs is affirmed in part, vacated in part and remanded where: 1) the court acted within its discretion when it entered the default as a sanction for persistent noncompliance with court-ordered deadlines; but 2) the court erred in granting relief beyond the scope of relief to which the plaintiffs were entitled.
