United States First Circuit

US v. Jonas, 11-1773

In a conviction of defendant for possessing counterfeit securities and possessing a firearm as a felon, district court's imposition of a 60-month sentence in classifying a prior conviction as a crime of violence is affirmed, as defendant's prior conviction for assault and battery on a correctional officer presents a serious potential risk of injury to another to satisfy the degree of risk requirement, and sufficiently similar in kind to the offenses enumerated in connection with the "otherwise" clause of the career offender guideline.
