United States First Circuit

Curet-Velazquez v. ACEMLA De Puerto Rico, Inc., 10-1587

In an appeal from a judgment of the district court granting in part the plaintiffs' motions for summary judgment and finding that defendant infringed on plaintiffs' valid copyrights in musical compositions thus imposing the maximum statutory damages, 17 U.S.C. section 504(c)(1), judgment is affirmed where the court did not err in: 1) extending the deadline for discovery; 2) not finding that plaintiffs' claims were time-barred under P.R. Laws Ann. tit. 31, section 3500; 3) allowing plaintiffs' expert witness to testify on certain matters and not excluding his testimony as a sanction; and 4) imposing the maximum statutory damages.
