In a civil rights action, district court's grant of defendants' motion for summary judgment is affirmed where: 1) the court's opinion is both closely reasoned and clearly correct; and 2) plaintiff failed to exercise due diligence and filed his rule 56(f) motion after time for opposing the summary judgment motion had expired and the magistrate judge deemed the motion unopposed.
