United States First Circuit
Dixon v. Int'l Bhd. of Police Officers, 06-1210
In a suit by a female police officer against a police officers union and individual police officers and union officials alleging discrimination, retaliation, and defamation, judgment for plaintiff on the discrimination and retaliation claims is affirmed over defendants' appeal where plaintiff presented sufficient evidence to establish her retaliation and discrimination claims against defendants, and the judge correctly instructed the jury on retaliatory motive and punitive damages. Judgment for defendant on the defamation claim is affirmed over plaintiff's appeal where the judge correctly applied the actual malice standard.
