Otero-Carrasquillo v. Pharmacia Corp., 05-2373

Summary judgment for defendants, along with the imposition of civil penalties on defendants for violation of ERISA's reporting and disclosure provision, in a case regarding the denial of severance benefits is affirmed where: 1) the plan administrator's decision to deny benefits was not arbitrary or capricious; 2) ERISA preempted plaintiff's state law claims; and 3) the district court used the correct method in calculating the civil penalties.
