United States First Circuit

US v. DE JESUS, 01-2060

When a criminal defendant, subject to unambiguous conditions of probation, violated the terms of his probation in numerous respects, the district court-s imposition of a sentence with a view toward "achieving the statutory objective of promoting respect for the law and affording . . . adequate deterrence" was proper and amply justified by the defendant-s obduracy.
