United States Eleventh Circuit

Thompson v. Glades County Bd. of County Comm'rs, 05-10669

In vote dilution case involving African American voters challenging the at-large method of electing members of the county commission and school board, denial of relief to plaintiffs is reversed where the district court committed error in concluding that plaintiffs failed to establish a section 2 remedy under the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and in failing explain with sufficient particularity that the totality of the circumstances weakens the plaintiffs' vote dilution claim.
