VIERLING v. CELEBRITY CRUISES, INC., 01-50351

Ryan Stevedoring Co. v. Pan-Atlantic Steamship Corp., 350 U.S. 124 (1956) -- which holds a stevedore owes a shipowner a duty of workmanlike performance such that, if the duty is breached, the stevedore must indemnify the shipowner for damages it is required to pay a longshoreman who is injured aboard its vessel -- entitles the shipowner to indemnification for damages it paid to a passenger because the port authority failed to load passengers aboard the cruise ship in a workmanlike manner.
