United States Eleventh Circuit
US v. TORREALBA, 02-13307
Convictions and sentencing for hostage-related crimes are affirmed over defendant's claims that the district court 1) erred by dividing his conspiracy conviction into 3 different groups for sentencing, 2) improperly applied a 6 level enhancement based on the making of a ransom demand, 3) erred by applying a 4 level enhancement based on his infliction of injuries on one of his victims, and 4) erred by denying his request for a downward departure.
