United States Tenth Circuit
US v. Zamudio-Carrillo, 06-3193
Denial of a suppression motion in a prosecution for drug and immigration crimes is affirmed where: 1) there was ample support for a conclusion that a trooper had probable cause to arrest defendant based on an objectively reasonable suspicion he was traveling in tandem with a vehicle transporting drugs in a hidden compartment and, thus, was involved in criminal activity; and 2) consequently, defendant's arrest, detention, and a subsequent inventory search of his vehicle did not violate the Fourth Amendment.
