United States Tenth Circuit

US v. Ledesma, 05-3163

Displaying a temporary tag behind a heavily tinted rear window violates a Kansas statute requiring that licence plates appear "in a place and position to be clearly visible." Consequently, denial of a suppression motion in a prosecution for drug-related offenses is affirmed where troopers did not exceed the permissible scope of a traffic stop by issuing a citation and requesting consent for a subsequent search.
