Court of Criminal Appeals of Texas

MITSCHKE v. STATE OF TEXAS, 2243-01

The trial court's failure to admonish defendant as to the sex offender registration requirement at the time of pleading did not violate due process or render his plea involuntary; although the requirement is a direct rather than collateral consequence (being definite and completely automatic), it is non-punitive.
