Court of Appeals of New York

Holmes v. Winter, 245

An order from a New York court directing a reporter to appear in another state pursuant to a subpoena issued from that court should be denied, where, as here, there is a substantial likelihood that she will be compelled to identify sources who have been promised confidentiality, would offend the strong public policy of New York, as embodied in the New York Shield Law.
