Court of Appeals of New York
People v. Williams, 79
In a case in which the defendant pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree assault and was sentenced to 13 years plus the mandatory 3-year period of postrelease supervision, the duration of an order of protection is affirmed, where under former Penal Law 530.13[4], one of the measuring sticks--"a determinate sentence of imprisonment actually imposed"--includes the mandatory period of postrelease supervision.
