Court of Appeals of New York

Estate of Becker v. Murtagh, 59

In a dispute over the ownership of beachfront land upon which a boardwalk and dock were constructed, a grant of summary judgment to the defendants with a declaration that the plaintiffs had no rights in the disputed property is reversed, where the evidence that the plaintiffs' decedent used and controlled the disputed land for a 21-year period in a hostile and exclusive manner was sufficient to establish title by adverse possession.
