Court of Appeals of New York
People v. Rodriguez, 11-15
In a Double Jeopardy challenge to the imposition of post-release supervision at resentencing on defendants who had completed their terms of imprisonment and been released into the community, the appellate division's orders affirming defendants' sentences are reversed where, after release from prison, a legitimate expectation in the finality of a sentence arises and the Double Jeopardy Clause prevented reformation to attach a post-release component to the original completed sentence.
