Court of Appeals of New York

Angello v. Labor Ready, Inc., 149

Finding by appellate division that defendant's fee to its employees for using its cash dispensing machines, which employees receiving a cash voucher for wages must use, was a direct deduction of a fee for the service of providing cash wages and was a violation of Labor Law section 193 is affirmed as the legislature intended to assure that the unequal bargaining power between an employer and an employee does not result in coercive economic arrangements by which the employer can divert a worker's wages for the employer's benefit.
