Supreme Court of Illinois
People v. Houston, 102225
In a conviction for armed robbery where the defendant made a pro se attempt to raise a Batson claim, the supreme court retains jurisdiction and the cause is remanded with directions to hold a hearing to reconstruct the record of voir dire proceedings where no record was made of the voir dire process, and thus the court is unable to determine whether the defendant has been prejudiced by trial counsel's deficient performance.
