Supreme Court of Illinois
People v. Phillips, 99568
Conviction for possession with intent to distribute is affirmed over defendant's claim that she was denied her right to confront the witnesses against her where: 1) counsel's decision to stipulate as to the identification of the substance found in her car was not among those decisions that are reserved personally to a criminal defendant; and 2) it was clear that counsel made a strategic decision to focus on the issue of knowledge, rather than on the identity of the substance.
